Five years partnering with courts, attorneys, and community agencies, including Shelby County  ·  Male and female facilitator in every group  ·  30+ years combined experience

The clinical foundation

Every program is built on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT was chosen because the outcome research supports it. It targets the connection between thought, emotion, and behavior, teaching participants to identify and restructure the thinking patterns that drive aggression, impulsivity, poor decision-making, and relational conflict.

Decades of research consistently identify CBT as one of the most effective interventions available for reducing recidivism among justice-involved populations. Because it is skill-based, participants leave with strategies they keep using. That produces measurable long-term change rather than compliance that ends the day the court order does.

Every group is led by clinicians trained in CBT, with both a male and a female facilitator present.

A note on naming

Why our program names changed

In collaboration with Shelby County, RCS renamed its domestic violence program to Healthy Relationships and its anger management program to Emotion Regulation.

Over the past year we have observed noticeably lower resistance and stronger engagement among court-ordered participants, particularly where the referred individual has been both victim and offender and a stigmatizing label makes early buy-in harder.

Clinical content, program length, and court requirements are unchanged. The framing invites participation instead of defensiveness.
