Monique Johnson, Ed.S, LPC-S, RPT-S

Ms. Johnson, the founder of RCS is a  graduate of Troy University in Montgomery, AL with a Master's in Counseling and Psychology and an Ed.S in Counseling/Supervision from UAB. Ms. Johnson holds several certifications which include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Rational Living Therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor. Ms. Johnson has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 9 years and a Registered Play Therapist for over 8 years. She has worked in the field of social services for over 18 years in various capacities.

Ms. Johnson is dedicated to working with individuals and families with a holistic approach. She is a firm believer that every individual has the ability to live their best life with the right tools and is driven to assure they are provided with the highest level of service to do so.

Whitney Shelton, M.S., LPC

Executive Director

Mrs. Shelton received her Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University-Montgomery. She has worked in the human service field for seven years with adults, adolescent and families. Mrs. Shelton is a Certified Nonviolent Crisis Intervention instructor that specializes in training and consulting in behavior management. She has experience working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. She is passionate about helping others reach their maximum potential while facilitating change within their lives.

Shari Leverett, M.S., LPC

Clinical Director

Shari received her undergraduate degree from Clark Atlanta University. Later she obtained her Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University. She has experience working with individuals with substance abuse issues. She is now working towards obtaining her Associate Counselor Licensure. Shari believes that if given a chance within a supportive environment, individuals can change and move successfully towards a healthier lifestyle.

Herbert Wilkerson, LPC, JSOCC

Herbert is a  Licensed Professional Counselor that has been working in the mental health field for more than 15 years. He is also a Juvenile Sexual Offending Certified Counselor. He has worked in the community as a therapist in residential, foster care and mental health center settings with all ages. He also has experience working with college aged students in a higher educated setting. Herbert takes a prescriptive approach to therapy that is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His community outreach includes presentations, panel discussions and community discussions on de-stigmatizing mental health in the Black community and other underserved populations. Something Herbert often tells himself routinely is, “It’s not about me”. Meaning my role is to serve the under served and marginalized populations while treating them with human dignity and respect.

Charnae Smith M.S, ALC

Charnae Smith is a native of Chicago, IL. She received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Alabama State University. She's worked in the field of human services for 7 years. Charnae has experience working with individuals with severe mental illness and those who battle substance abuse. She is currently working towards becoming an LPC. Her goal is to provide a safe place for clients to express themselves and feel worthy.
