Ms. Monique Johnson was born and raised in Conecuh County, Alabama. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1999. Monique moved to Birmingham, Alabama, in 2003 to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She then pursued her Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology at Troy University in Montgomery, Alabama. Continuing her commitment to professional growth, Monique returned to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Counseling and Supervision. She is currently in the dissertation phase of her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University.


Throughout her career, Monique has received numerous honors and professional certifications. She is a two-time recipient of the Best in Business Award, recognizing her leadership, innovation, and dedication to serving the community through mental health services. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CCBT), Relational Life Therapist (RLT), and Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS). She specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with a focus on trauma, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and personal growth.


With more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field, Monique has dedicated her life to helping individuals and families overcome challenges and achieve lasting change. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Restorative Counseling Services, LLC, a thriving private practice committed to providing high-quality mental health services, clinical supervision, psychological evaluations, and educational programming.


Outside of counseling, Monique has a passion for teaching and mentorship. She has served as an adjunct instructor at colleges and universities, teaching psychology and counseling-related courses while helping shape the next generation of mental health professionals. She regularly facilitates workshops, provides continuing education trainings, serves as a clinical supervisor for Associate Licensed Counselors (ALCs), and has been a guest speaker on numerous panels promoting mental health awareness and professional development.


In 2020, Monique established Dream Big Publishing, LLC, with a vision of educating, inspiring, and empowering individuals through literature and therapeutic resources. Through her publishing company, she released her first children's book, Micah Goes to Therapy, the first in a series focused on helping children understand and navigate mental health challenges. She later published The Thompson Family Goes to Therapy, a book designed to help families process grief and loss in a healthy and supportive manner.


In addition to her children's books, Monique has developed several therapeutic curricula utilized in counseling practices, court-referred programs, and community settings. She is the author of the Healthy Relationships Curriculum, the Healthy Relationships RESTORE Curriculum (Second Edition), and the P.R.O.C.E.S.S. Emotion Regulation Curriculum, all designed to help participants develop emotional intelligence, accountability, effective communication skills, and healthier interpersonal relationships.


Monique is a proud mother of two beautiful, bright, and athletic daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, reading, and finding innovative ways to inspire others to live their best lives. Her holistic approach to counseling emphasizes healing the mind, body, and spirit while equipping individuals with practical tools for success.


As a counselor, educator, author, publisher, entrepreneur, and mentor, Monique remains committed to helping individuals recognize their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful change in their lives and communities. She firmly believes that every person has the capacity to heal, grow, and thrive when provided with the right support, resources, and opportunities.
